Join us for this informative webinar tailored for people living with rare bleeding disorders, their families, caregivers, and the broader community. Von Willebrand factor and von Willebrand Disease (VWD) in ageing brings together clinical expertise and lived experience to explore mechanisms, evolving phenotypes, and clinical implications of ageing with VWD.

Speakers: Prof Flora Peyvandi and Cathy Verbraeken. There will also be time for live interaction and audience Q&A.

This webinar is the second one organised by the EHC in the Ageing Well with Rare Bleeding Disorders webinar series in partnership with ERN-EuropBloodNet (you can register for the whole series HERE).

This webinar series is part of the broader Living Well, Ageing Well, the EHC Ageing Project 2025–2026, which brings together experts, patients, and caregivers to explore topics like mobility, mental health, nutrition, comorbidity management, and more.

About the speakers

Flora Peyvandi

Prof Peyvandi is a Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Milan and director of the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center. She is head of the Department of Rare Disorders at the Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico with 15 ERNs. For many years, Prof Peyvandi has been participating in clinical, educational and research activities of different European and International scientific societies and patients’ organisations. She is currently the President of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). She serves as advisor on the European Agency of Medicine (EMA) and on the Technical Health Committee of the Italian Ministry of Health. Her H-index of 78 (Scopus), with a large experience in research development in the field of haemostasis and thrombosis.

Cathy Verbraeken

Cathy Verbraeken is a member of the EHC VWD Committee and is also the chair of the VWD Committee of the Dutch EHC National Member Organisation.  Cathy and her two daughters have VWD, types 1 and 2N. She is giving her best to advocate for better care, more treatment options, and increased awareness of VWD.
