Children in the EHC community are invited to participate in a special colouring activity based on the EHC’s new children’s book Emma and the Playhouse.
The book, which was created to help children affected by von Willebrand Disease (VWD) explain their condition to those around them, has inspired a colouring page that young artists can bring to life with their own creativity.
How to participate?
Children can colour the Emma and the Playhouse page, and parents are encouraged to share their child’s artwork by sending a photo or scanof the finished colouring page to[email protected].
As a thank you for participating, every child who submits their artwork will receive a copy of the Emma and the Playhouse book.
This colouring activity offers a wonderful opportunity for children to engage creatively whilst celebrating a resource that makes discussing VWD easier and more accessible for young people.
Written by Cathy Verbraeken and illustrated by Mariana Ostanik with guidance from the EHC VWD Committee, Emma and the Playhouse serves a dual purpose: it supports children with VWD in sharing their experiences whilst helping children without the condition develop understanding and compassion for their peers.
The book was officially launched at the EHC VWD Summit in Riga, Latvia, in September 2025, and is available in multiple formats including softcover, hardcover, and ebook editions through the EHC Community website.
