The EHC President was hosted as a speaker at the APH 10th National Congress in Portugal

The EHC President, Miguel Crato, was honoured to join the 10th National Congress of the Associação Portuguesa de Hemofilia e de outras Coagulopatias Congénitas (APH), our Portuguese NMO, as a speaker in a scientific panel discussing the latest advancements in gene therapy. This remarkable event, held over the full weekend of 23-24 November 2024 in the historic city of Tomar, Portugal, brought together 200 participants, featuring an inspiring and diversified programme.

The sessions explored groundbreaking new treatments, the evolving potential of gene therapy, and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to care, with topics including orthopedics, psychology, and nursing. Additionally, a dedicated session highlighted strategies for the inclusion of emigrants within the haemophilia community, underscoring APH’s commitment to embracing diversity.

While these discussions were underway, children up to 12 years old enjoyed their own parallel mini-congress, designed to educate and engage the youngest members of the community.

The event is a legacy of collaboration and innovation, paving the way for future advancements in haemophilia care. EHC thanks APH for the gentle invitation.
